The riches of the ocean are still unknown, but marine invertebrates such as soft corals and sponges, and associated microorganisms, represent an abundant source of valuable bioactive compounds useful in drugs, phytosanitary treatments and cosmetics.

The common technique for the cultivation of microorganisms in laboratories and in industry is liquid state fermentation as it is easy to implement and scale-up.

UNIFERTEX (UNIversal FERmenTor EXpert) offers a unique opportunity to microbiologists to carry out solid and liquid state fermentations in parallel, in a highly controlled environment with specialized remote supervision and control software, complying with European Union and international safety and security regulations as well as quality requirements.
