AstaReal AB has extensive knowledge in commercial micro algal cultivation and to bring new product to the market in animal and human nutrition. AstaReal has developed a unique cultivation method for the alga Haematococcus pluvialis producing astaxanthin. AstaReal has been pioneering in taking the natural astaxanthin to the global market through both regulatory work and efficacy studies on humans and animals. To achieve the results the company has build up in-house experience and a network of external expertise to complement its own competence.

AstaReal will play a central role in WP6 (industrial developments), investigating the possibility for developing new nutraceuticals based on the natural marine derived products obtained in the project in the project, and will also contribute to WP8.
