Partner Description<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1939, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (National Center for Scientific Research) is a French government-funded research organisation. CNRS research units are spread all over France, and employ a large body of permanent researchers, engineers, technicians, and administrative staff. The CNRS annual budget represents a quarter of French public spending on non-military research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNRS (http:\/\/www.cnrs.fr\/index.php<\/a>) is organised in 1211 laboratories, in-house and in partnership with universities, other research organisations and industry. As one of the largest fundamental research organisations in Europe, CNRS is involved in all scientific fields through its diverse institutes and is a major participant in national, European, and international projects. Interdisciplinary programmes and actions offer a gateway into new domains of scientific investigation and enable CNRS to address the needs of society and industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNRS is a major player in EU framework programmes, with a long track record in acting as project coordinator, supported by dedicated staff dealing with financial, legal, and administrative aspects. The present project will be supported by the Ile de France Sud Regional Office of CNRS (DR4).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles, (ICSN) is one of the largest chemistry research institutes in France and Europe and the main chemistry unit of the CNRS, with approximately 250 people, claiming in the last ten years more than 1196 publications in highly cited peer reviewed journals and 41 patents. ICSN has an indisputable reputation in the field of natural compounds thanks to the discovery of two major anticancer drugs (Taxotere\u00ae and Navelbine\u00ae) from natural sources. ICSN has also established long-term collaborations worldwide (Fiji, Guyana, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius, New Caledonia, Uganda, Vietnam, Thailand), characterized by the equitable sharing of knowledge\/technical support. ICSN is a partner in the FP6 project COMPUTIS and in the FP7 projects AGROCOS, MAP2ERA, MICROSMETICS and CINEA.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Role in the project<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

CNRS is the coordinator for TASCMAR, responsible for the overall management of the project including reporting to the European Commission on the project\u2019s progress and finances.
